APA style headings differ from the many different types of writing protocol used in the US. APA stands for the American Psychological Association. Unlike turabian/chicago styles, there are no footnotes within APA style. The format lends itself to easy navigation. The first level headings are suppose to convey major ideas or concepts. They are center spaced with both upper and lower case
. lettering. This recently changed as a few years ago APA required all uppercase in their major headings. The second level is left justified and italicized, these are supporting ideas. The third level headings are italicized and indented. If in the case you need more than three levels of headings then the process becomes more complex.
