Curious George is the favorite of all the animated monkeys ever created. Before he appeared in a couple of animated series and two animated movies, Curious George was the main character in a series of books by Margret and H.A. Rey. The first book Curious George was released in 1941. The following titles are Curious George takes a Job (1947); Curious George Rides A Bike (1952); Curious George
. Gets a Medal (1957); Curious George Flies a Kite (1958); Curious George Learns The Alphabet (1963); and Curious George Goes to the Hospital (1966). But George actually appeared in writing for the first time in H.A. Rey's book Cecily G. and the Nine Monkeys (1939). Those were the Curious George stories written in H.A. Rey's lifetime. After H.A. Rey's death, a second series of books was edited by Margret Rey and Alan J. Shalleck. They were released between 1984 and 1994 but now are mostly out of print. A third series of books appeared in 1998 and continue to be printed in the style of H.A. Rey by a variety of artists. Curious George also has a series now on PBS-TV.
