analytical reasoning: Analytical reasoning was made popular by Immanuel Kant. It is a line of reasoning that claims statements are true by their meaning alone. A classic example of analytical reasoning is the sentence, "John is a bachelor." We know the meaning of "bachelor" is an unmarried man, so we can infer from the sentence that John is unmarried. Saying that John is a "married bachelor" .
