In most rental contracts it states you must give the landlord 30 days notice. A 30 day notice can ge given at anytime, you do not have to wait until the first of the month. If you are moving the following month in the middle of the month, you still must pay the prorated rent. Example you give notice on June 16th, so you will be moving on July 16th, when July 1st comes, you will need to pay the
. prorated rent from July 1st to July 16th. If however, you move out before say on July 10th then you must pay the full month's rent because you gave a 30 day notice. The exception to this would be if the landlord rents the apartment on the days of the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th or 15th then you would be due money back. The landlord must give you 24 hour notice that he will be showing the apartment. On the 30 day notice, make sure you make a copy for yourself. The notice can also be verbal, but I wouldn't suggest that.
