Discrete Variable

A discrete variable is normally used as part of a statistical measurement. It's value is finite or fixed. An example of a discrete variable would be the number of toes on a human foot. This is the opposite of a continuous variable which may have a fluctuating value, such as temperature. A definition of discrete variables may be found at http://davidmlane.com/hyperstat/A96915.html.
