Contiguous Files

Contiguous file as those files that are on the hard drive in one continues length. All sectors are adjacent to each other. A contiguous file is faster to read and write than one that is fragmented across the disk. Files change to contiguous when you de-fragment the disk. It is the opposite to fragmented files which parts of the file are scattered all over the disk wherever there is available .
