Canadian Statute of Limitations

Canadian statute of limitations only applies for less serious offenses. These small offenses can also include theft of up to 5,000 dollars. The statute of limitations for these offenses only last six months. For more indictable, serious offenses there is no statute of limitations. Therefore, a person can be charged at any time after the crime has been committed.
