There are many barriers to effective listening. One barrier is interrupting the person while they are talking. Tuning them out is another barrier. Some people pretend to be listening but really aren't which means they cannot truly receive the information being communicated. Try not to jump to conclusions while the person is talking to you or you may deter then from continuing.
