Academic weaknesses can occur at any stage in a child's life but there are many supports out there to correct such weaknesses. Some are strategies that parents can help with and some are the school's portion. One strategy parents can use when there is an academic weakness no matter what the subject matter is is to spend extra time with your child seeing where the concern is. Go over the material
. with your child note in a journal book one of those black and white marble books will do just fine. Each day put the date the time and what material you worked on. Jog down notes where you feel they needed help in. How many questions did they get correct how many did they get wrong. What are the weaknesses in the material. Give them brief quizzes each day trying to see what of the material that they seemed to be doing well in do they recall. Review review review this is really important especially with younger children. Finally if you see there is no improvement or maybe you don't even understand the material you have your journal now of the steps you've taken and you can address the academic weaknesses with your youngsters teacher.
