There are many different ways that deaf people can communicate. One way that they communicate is by sign language. Sign language is a language based upon hand gestures. Thoughts and expressions are represented by signs instead of having a sign for each word. Deaf people can also communicate by means of pen and paper. It is interesting to note that people who are deaf generally speak in ASL
. or American Sign Language which is different from traditional English. So their writing and expressions will be much different than what a person might be used to. They also communicate by means of TDD or Telecommunications Device for the Deaf. This is a device like a telephone that is used to text communications from one person to another. Another form of communication that they can utilize is Voice Carry Over or VCO. This form of communication allows a person who is deaf to use their voice to speak while receiving responses in text.
