One option is to tell the bum to leave and buy his own pool! Unless, of course, you are referring to that nasty green stuff that grows in a pool from neglect. It's easier than you think. First, do a back flush and try to clean out as much as possible out of the filter and the pool and scoop out what you can with the pool screen. Fill the water level to the top and, with the pump running non stop,
. empty in 3 or 4 bags of chlorine shock into the water. Put a large quantity of chlorine tablets in the drain basket as well. Over the next few days constantly brush the sides of the pool to loosen the growth from the walls. When the green color subsides, it will be time to check the ph of the water with an inexpensive testing kit to determine what is need to be added; more chlorine or acid. Test twice daily and adjust as necessary. When everything starts looking good, change the filters or the filter medium. I suggest constant testing and running the pump non stop for another week or so to make sure everything is like new again.
