Cap guns have been a favorite toy for little boys since the end of World War II in 1952. Boy were able to role play and be like the heroes and cowboys they saw on TV and in movies. These guns were called cap guns because of the small discs of explosive that produced the "pop and smoke" effect. The guns themselves were made to look just like real revolvers, rifles and pistols. Today's cap guns
. have to be made with brightly colored tips over the muzzles or made to be a bright color all over. Laws were made requiring these brighter colored guns because of a few incidences where children and teen were mistaking killed because they were thought to have a real gun.
