The battle of legalizing marijuana has been raging for the past few decades. Marijuana has always been a rich part of American history and culture. When the argument is carefully analyzed I'm sure you will arise at the same conclusion as myself, the pros outway the cons by a long shot. If Marijuana was legalized it would lower the cost of the drug thus lowering the amount of thefts and burglaries
. commited in order to gain money to purchase the drug. Legalization would of course result in a vast amount of money going into the governments pocket from the tax revenue on the drug. Many dangerous drug dealers and cartells who profit mainly off of the sale of marijuana would lose a large majority of their market and therefore go out of bussiness resulting in a safer world. And of course ounce marijuana is legalized the FDA will be able to regulate the manufature and distribution of the substance. Of course we can't forget that marijuana is a gateway drug and should be treated accordingly. We would run a higher risk of people driving under the influence of this substance more often. If legalized, Marijuana would easily fall into the hands of minors just as easy as it is for them to obtain cigarettes. We cannot deny the negative effects that the drug has on its users and the victims of its secondhand smoke which will only increase if the drug is ever legalized.
