Fedex is a mail carrier company that transports letters and packages around the globe. Service countries include: North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Indian Subcontinent, Oceania and Pacific regions. The company offers several ways to send a package or letter. One way is through the companies world headquarters in each region. The other is through third party
. service providers. In most regions, senders can arrange for package pickup from their home or place of business. In regions where home pickup is not available, such as those not in the travel area or those in third world countries where resources are limited, third party senders and some airports serve as package drop-off locations. After the sender drops off the package at the drop-off location, the package is then picked up from that location and taken to the main headquarters, where it is shipped to the final destination.Scheduling a pickup from home requires accessing the Fedex website and clicking on "Schedule a pickup." From there, a free pickup account is created. This account allows users to schedule, edit and cancel home or office pickups from the Fedex site. For non-home pickup regions, Fedex locations are listed on the website. These locations are found by searching with a zip code through the "Find a location" link. Third party locations are found by performing a search over the Internet or checking in the local directory.Package types allowed for pickup include express, ground and freight packages. Packages must include all necessary paperwork and paid postage prior to pickup. Postage is purchased off the Fedex site or through the third party service provider. If package hold is needed, this is available with many of the same third party service providers where pickups are scheduled. Pickup times vary with each region.
