The Ellison Medical Foundation supports basic biological research in aging relevant to understanding aging processes and age-related diseases. Some examples of basic research include work with (clockwise from top left) bone marrow-derived nuclei in Purkinje neurons, endocytosis dynamics, anaphase "bridge" of a cell undergoing division in a study to determine how the telomere functions to protect chromosome ends, and a microarray of genes involved in replicative senescence.
