Project Engineer Position Available
Submitted by Webmaster on Mon, 09/29/2008 - 7:39am. CommunityThe City of Marion is seeking qualified applicants for a project engineer position. A technical position within the Engineering Department assisting in the planning, construction, and maintenance of various public works projects.
• Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in civil engineering or similar related field.
• Registered as an Engineering Intern with the Iowa State Board of Engineering Examiners, or obtain registration within six (6) months of employment.
• Have at least six (6) months experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2004 or higher.
• Work experience with ArcMap Version 9.2 Software preferred.
• Responsible for the data gathering, design, preparation of plans and specifications of various public works projects.
• Prepares plans, estimates, inspections, reports, contract documents, and related materials for major projects.
• Conducts quality control tests and inspections to insure public improvements are compliant with applicable ordinances, standards, and specifications.
• Operates transits, GPS Unit, levels, or total station equipment in performing location, topographic, and construction layout survey work.
• Valid Iowa driver's license.

Economic Analysis of a Plasma Arc Waste-to-energy Facility

Introduction
The City of Marion, Iowa is soliciting the services of a qualified consultant team with experience in complex mechanical design and the completion of economic studies to work with the city and wastenotIowa, a nonprofit group, and the University of Iowa to develop an economic model for the commercial use of plasma arc gasification technology to use solid waste as a feedstock for power and/or thermal energy production and secondary product production.
Examination for Firefighter

The top 30 scoring candidatew will be invited to participate in an agility test. Applications may be obtained between September 2, 2008 and September 26, 2008 from teh City Clerk at City Hall, 1225 6th Avenue, Marion, Iowa.
