Helsinki 2007: Walking through the screen?
An innovative technology might be used in the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Initially known as WAVE (Walk-Through Virtual Environment), FogScreen, developed in Finland by Ismo Rakkolainen and Karri Palovuori at Finland’s Tampere University of Technology, is based on new technology that makes it feasible to create a flat and thin layer of fog that can be used for simultaneous high-quality image projection and walk-through. The fog screen, made exclusively from ordinary tap water and ultrasonic waves, feels dry and cool to the touch and can be used for extended periods of time. The displaying images literally float in the air. Available in two models, Inia and One. The Inia has a fixed screen size of 2 meters (79") wide and 1.5 meters (59") high. The One is 1 meter (39") wide, but multiple Ones can be linked to form a seamless projection screen of any width, almost without limit.
It will be interesting to see if the Fogscreen can be used by the artists for their acts. Or maybe if this screen will appear on stage at the voting procedure. For sure the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest is promising many surprises.

Go Portugal...
I would like to see you in final!
The Riga stage was phenomenal. I am sure Finland will do a great job but walking into that arena in Riga took your breath away. And having the contestants in a green room above the stage is a moment never bettered. Not even by Desiree Nosbusch's American accent.
well i think finish will do a nice job!!! a they did with their olympics!!! such a small country (the smallest ever that hosted the olympics) and made the olympics!! hope we see a grate show!!!!!!!
esctoday...sorry...i wanna have some publicity on my site...do you know can I???My message is marked as spam....so now it's a disaster for my contest!
Very impressive. I hope everything goes well for the Finns.
The best 3 stages ever were Riga 2003, Stockholm 2000, Athens 2006
The worse stages ever were Copenhagen 2001, Jerusalem 1999 and Talin 2002
The most impressive feature i 've ever seen was the 1996 scoreboard. It was amazing.
Apart from very big, I don't consider 2001 a very good contest. Stockholm 2000 was very good, I agree. But Malmo 1992 was a mediocre contest. Norway 1996 was very good, especially the virtual reality scoreboard. And the the lighting and video-effects in Athens were very beautiful. In others words, I don't agree with Lookie.
Fogscreen...wow. This is why scandinavian countries should always win, they have the right resources and the know-how to make a show that is above everything else. Athens was good but not really technically impressive. Stockholm 2000 was a groundbreaking step towards the ESC as we know it today, and Copenhagen 2001 was just MASSIVE. Helsinki 07 will be great so lets keep it north shall we? ^^
Its just this part about having a winning song among these countries...hmmm...would have to be Sweden then.
Maybe it'll be as good as the floating stage we were promised in Athens.... ;-)
i am 100% sure that Finland will organize a breathtaking ESC! GO HELSINKI
I love Iceland. I know a girl at work who's boyfriends first cousin's nephew's best friend went there but fell into a steaming hot geysir thingy and got 90% burns and died roaring in a Reykjavik hospital..... But I love the country and defo giving it my vote this year.
oh and yeah best Eurovision ever..........Dublin1997. An amazing stage and setting. Cn u imagine how wonderful a eurovision from Dublin would be in 2008?? No one can do it like we can.......... But I cant wait to see the fog thing........
Finnish miracle mist, scooch, israel about to start a world war in the middle east, that turkish gold jacket, the ex chernobyl employye singing for ukraine......ah Eurovision u gotta love it!!!
@ Welcome To Belgrade

I am always very calmed. My point is that this thread news item concerns the Helsinki org and not the Serbian song, sorry, don't want to sound imposing but seems many people discuss their faves or push their fave songs, or promote their fave song in the wrong news subjects.
Regarding the Serbian song, I do not like it neither dislike it, it is just okay and nothing special for my taste. I find the singer has no charisma whatsoever, don't like her. I prefer Bosnia song and singer more this year
Yeah, I agree with Delphia Hellas, dicuss the songs in the forum it's not related to this.
Calm down Delphia Hellas
This is not propaganda!
Im Greek too living abroad but Serbia has a very good song! Lets be fair
I wonder why people post unrelated comments on the news subjects, people posting either propaganda for their fave songs or whatever. We might stick to the news item subject, dont't you think jesse leonard
Just close your eyes and listen to the Serbian song!
I think its the best this year!
I listened to it several times today and it moved to my top 3
I wish I knew what the lyrics say!
What does Molitva means???? Can someone translate the lyrics???]
Good luck Serbia
I wish the best to the Finnnish organisers. I hope their show to be at least equal to the last one.
Ofcourse everybody can have its opinion about the quality of the greek show. BUT don't forget something importand. Greece is one of the very few western countries that take ESC very SERIOUSLY.
The point is that we did our best last year and that's the most important thing.
I went to Finland when it was -26 degrees and I have definitely stood in that fog screen.
I bet Finns will do a great job...fogscreen sounds amazing
I love the way host countries always try to out do each other its soo funny! what will be next? teleporting on to the stage?
we in scandinavia knows how to do a good eurovision show
I like the Cyprus song its catchy, way better then Scooch, ok i admit that the UK and ierland did once have such an agreement too but you know times have changed and they've stopped doing it now, by that i mean the full 12 .
