Xian-Jin Li is a professor in the Department of Mathematics at
Brigham Young University. He works in
analytic number theory, and
Li's criterion is named after him.
Career
Li earned his
PhD degree in 1993 from
Purdue University, studying under
Louis de Branges. His dissertation was on the
Riemann Hypothesis (
The Riemann Hypothesis For Polynomials Orthogonal On The Unit Circle). In 1997, he proved a famous criterion about the Riemann Hypothesis known as
Li's criterion.
