Varnavas (Greek: Βαρνάβας "Barnabas", also Varnava) is a community in the prefecture of East Attica, Greece. Varnavas is linked with the road linking Nea Makri and Kapandriti. The seat of government is the town of Varnávas (pop. 1,415 at the 2001 census). The area around Varnavas are surrounded by olive trees, pasture farmlands, grasslands and are hilly, pine trees dominates southward, farmlands are in valley areas. The South Euboic Gulf covers the northeast and features Varnavas' nearest beach. Varnavas' beach is one of the cleanest beaches of Attica. The Varnavas is located about NE of Athens, E of GR-1/E75 (Athens - Lamia - Thessaloniki) and north of Rafina. Landmarks include the Historic People's Museum of Varnavas (Istoriko Laografiko Mouseio Varnava). Businesses and agriculture are the most popular industry in Varnavas. Housing developments came in the 1990s but slowly boomed. On January 24, 2006, snowstorms hit Varnavas accumulated up to nearly one metre of snow as a low pressure system came to Greece and the Balkans. 80 families were stranded and the community was left without electricity.
The community has a land area of 37.349 km² and a total population of 1,722 inhabitants. Its other settlements are Ágioi Dimítrios kai Panteleímon (pop. 136), Pouríthi (57), Moní Metamorfóseos Sotíros (44), Ágios Ioánnis (23), Agía Paraskeví (22), Limniónas (19), and Moní Panagías (6).

Varnavas has a school, a lyceum or a middle school, a gymnasia or a high school, banks, churches, a post office and a few squares (plateies). The current mayor of Varnavas is Nikos Voulgaris (from Nea Demokratia).Historical population
