University of New York Tirana
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceUniversity of New York, Tirana (UNYT) is the first private university in the State of Albania. The university was inaugurated in September 2002, having received a license from the Albanian government.
Currently, UNYT offers Bachelor’s degrees conferred by the State University of New York / Empire State College in Tirana. Furthermore, as from September 2004, UNYT, in collaboration with Institut Universitaire Kurt Bösch in Sion, Switzerland and the University of Sunderland, offers a Master of Business Administration program. As of June 2004, UNYT has become an associate partner of the Cambridge University International Examinations.
The current rector is Dr. Barbara Adams (Biochemist), replacing the late Prof. Dr. Gramoz Pashko (Economist, former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Economics of the Republic of Albania), who died in a helicopter crash in July 2006.
Currently, there are 510 students enrolled in different academic programs. UNYT offers study through the SUNY Learning Network.
Departments
UNYT is composed of several departments:Department of Economics and Business Administration: Courses offered in Economics, Management Science, Finance, Marketing, International Business, and Business Communication Department of Computer Sciences: Courses offered in Computer and Information Science
Department of Science and Mathematics: In addition to the Mathematics for Business and Computer Science, the department will be offering a special course in Differential Equations starting in Fall 2005.
Department of International Relations and Political Science: Courses offered in International Relations and Political Sciences
Department of Arts, Humanities, and Psychology: Courses offered in Psychology, Art History, and World Civilizations.

Department of English Language and Literature
