USA for Africa
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceUSA for Africa (United Support of Artists for Africa), was the name under which forty-five predominantly U.S. artists, led by Harry Belafonte, Kenny Rogers, Michael Jackson, and Lionel Richie, recorded the hit single "We Are the World" in 1985. The song was a US and UK Number One for the collective in April of that year.
The considerable profits from the enterprise went to the USA for Africa Foundation, which used them for the relief of famine and disease in Africa; critics, however, claim that this money went directly to the (often military) governments of the affected countries rather than the people.
A recording of the live performance was released with the Live Aid DVD set released on November 8, 2004.

songtext: There comes a time, when we head to certain call When the world must come together as one There are people dying And it's time to land a hand to life the greatest gift of all
We can't go on pretending day by day That , somewhere will soon make a chance We are all a part of god´s big big family And the truth you know Love is all we need
[Chorus] We are the world, we are the children We are the ones who make a brighter day So let's start giving There's a choise we making We're saving our own lives It's true we'll make a better day, just you and me
Send them your heart so they know that someone cares And their lives will be stronger and free As god has shown us a turning stone and bread And so we all must tend a helping hand
[Chorus]
When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all But if it just believe there´s no way we can full well, well, well let us realise that a chance can only come When we stand together as one
[Chorus x9]
