Trapezus is the Latinized form of Trebizond, the older name of Trabzon

Trapezus modern form: Trapezounta or Trapezounda is an ancient city located west of the village of Mavria and south-southeast of Karytaina in the municipality of Gortyna. Trapezus dates back to ancient times.

Trapezus features marble remains which are a few and are surrounded with forests.

The ancient city was featured on an ERT documentary program in early-2007 featuring the area's number one expert.
