Thoknia (Greek: Θωκνία), Latin and ancient form: Thocnia is a Greek settlement located around 9 km northwest of Megalopoli, 13 km south from the nearest interchange with the GR-7/E65 (Kalamata - Megalopoli - Tripoli) about 41 km west of Tripoli, about 63 km northeast of Kalamata, and about 40 km southeast of Andritsaina. Thoknia had a population of 49 in 2001. Thoknia is also in the municipality of Megalopoli. Thoknia are linked with two roads with the GR-76 (Krestena - Andritsaina - Megalopoli), the road to the Isari-Choremi Road and the road to Lykaio.

The name and the settlement dates back to the ancient times. It also has a small mine to the north that is used for electricity to the Megalopoli Power Plant.

Geography

Thoknia is located in the Alfeios valley. Farmlands cover the eastern and the western parts, the mine is to the north, forests covers the area in the western part which also features grasslands. Its panorama includes the Lykaio mountains to the west, more to the east, the power plant and the Taygetos mountains to the south..

Unlike the other parts of Arcadia, the population saw growth along with Megalopoli and Tripoli and had been growing since 1981.
