This Is Our Music (Ornette Coleman album)
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceThis Is Our Music is a free jazz album, recorded and originally released in 1960, by saxophonist Ornette Coleman (see 1960 in music). It is especially notable as Coleman's only Atlantic recording to feature a standard – an unorthodox version of "Embraceable You" – and as the only album to feature the "classic" quartet lineup with Don Cherry, Charlie Haden, and Ed Blackwell. The session includes several of Coleman's most enduring tunes: "Blues Connotation", "Beauty Is a Rare Thing", and "Kaleidoscope" in particular. ("Beauty Is a Rare Thing" eventually became the title of a boxed set of all Coleman's Atlantic recordings, a set which unearthed a remarkable amount of additional material from the original two sessions.)
