Thermopolium
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceA thermopolium was a place, used during the times of ancient Rome were it was possible to purchase ready-to-eat food.
It was made of a small room with a front desk, and hot food was stored in big clay pots inserted in the front desk. It was probably used in a way similar to modern fast foods. Remaining of thermopolia are preserved in Pompeii and Herculeanum.
