Facts

  • Grammy Award winning pop superstar Whitney Houston returns to executive produce this sequel as she did the first. Production began on March 12 2006 in Barcelona, Spain, and continued for eight weeks.
  • Originally subtitled "When in Spain".
  • 8.1 million people watched the premiere night, beating the record of 7.7 million viewers of High School Musical. It held the record until January 2007 when it was bested by Jump In's premiere of 8.2 million viewers.
  • Galleria's room was built in a set from a warehouse since the apartments in Spain don't look anything like New York.
  • During the "Strut" sequence, the shoes of Adrienne Bailon kept falling off because she has small feet. The crew fixed the problem by taping her feet to the shoes.
  • Peter Vives Newey (Angel) is an accomplished pianist, but for the film he had to learn to play the guitar which took him three weeks to practice.
  • When Golan Yosef (Joaquin) drives the scooter, the crew had to push the vehicle since the machine didn't work.
  • Golan Yosef was a dancer. He was cast as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet when the casting director saw him and offered him a spot in the movie.
  • In the finale scene, the hat of Raven Symoné kept falling off, so the production team cut out the top and put the frame around her head.

  • Las Cheetah Girls
  • Cheetah Girls (Disney Channel Latin America)
  • '' Las Chicas Guepardo (Disney Channel Spain)

Translation oddities

(NOTE: It is highly unusual for something to be translated perfectly into another language; translations are often loose for the dialogue to make sense to the new audience)

  • In the scene at The Dancing Cat, after Marisol and Chanel finished singing A La Nanita Nana, Lola asks if any of them speak Spanish (English version). In the Spanish version, Lola asks if any of them were part Hispanic.
  • In one scene, Chanel and her mother dress up properly and wait for Luc's family. But after the family comes out of the van, they see the family dressed up casually. Chanel says (in the English version), "I could've at least worn flipflops." In the Spanish version, she says, "I should've worn the red gloves."
  • When Galleria is trying to write a new song for the competition, she complains about learning a new song in Spanish, and how they couldn't sing in Spanish (Galleria says that their pronunciation of Spanish is failing and discuss with Aqua about the song) . But they are obviously speaking Spanish. (This is not exactly a blooper, since it was translated from English.)

Trivia

  • In the book, Dorinda's full name is Dorinda Rogers, however, in the movie, her name is Dorinda Thomas.
  • This movie is co-choreographed by Kenny Ortega and Charles Klapow, the choreographers of High School Musical with English choreographer Paul Harris, (Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix), who was brought in to choreograph the Tango sequence.
  • Raven, who plays Galleria in the Cheetah Girls movies, was an executive producer for The Cheetah Girls 2.
  • This movie had full length album versions of the songs in the movie, as opposed to the first one which didn't include the full length of the songs in the movies.
  • The DVD debuted at #10 on Billboard's "Top DVD sales" chart. It has sold nearly one million copies since it's release and has grossed over $17 million in revenue.
  • Peter Vives learned to play the guitar for the film, and it took him three weeks.
  • While filming "Amigas Cheetahs", it rained all over the stage. They had to wait until all the rain dried off to continue filming.
  • The movie received a total over 21 million viewers in the US alone. (as of September 2006)
  • All the scenes in the movie were shot in Barcelona, Spain.
  • In Italy Ambra Lo Faro sang the Italian version of The Party's Just Begun, named "La festa è intorno a noi" (The party is around us).
  • When the film re-aired on Disney Channel in the United States in September 2006, the Spanish version(with English subtitles) was shown first, then the English version (with Spanish subtitles). For these language versions, it was broadcast in widescreen.
  • All of the songs in the U.K version of the The Cheetah Girls 2 speed rate is 1.2, However on the soundtrack the playrate is 1. If you have Windows Media Player you can use WOW effects and change the speed rate.

Sequel

A sequel, The Cheetah Girls One World, will premiere on Disney Channel in August 2008. It was confirmed by Adrienne Bailon. It is going to be filmed in India around the premise of a Bollywood film. It has been confirmed, however, that Raven will not return for the 3rd film, due to other commitments because she will be working on other films, such as College Road Trip. Lynn Whitfield will also not be in the movie due to Raven not being there, along with her other commitments.

Goofs

  • During the filming of the "Strut" music video, one of Raven's heel breaks.
  • Aqua's name is frequently changing from Aquanette to Aquanetta. Aquanetta was what Galleria's father, Franco, called her in the Cheetah Girls book series
  • In one part of the music video, "Strut" Dorinda is holding a video camera. In the next scene she does not have it anymore. She is dancing with the other girls, and the video camera is nowhere to be seen.
  • When at the Dancing Cat, Marisol sings "Why Wait?" and at the end, she steps on her top hat that she wore during the performance. She squishes the hat. Then the camera shows the Cheetah Girls, but when they redirect to Marisol at a different angle, it shows the hat is restored like it was not even crushed and a man taps it over closer to her.
  • In scenes where two people have a conversation (such as when Galleria was at the train station) the camera shows the face of the person talking. In some scenes, hair switches from behind and front of the head.
  • In "Step Up", before Dorinda arrives, Aqua ties her shoes and stands up. However, when Dorinda enters, Aqua is still sitting down.
  • Outside Aramet & Randolph's shop it shows Aqua with 2 yellow bags, 1 blue, 1 green in one shot. Then in a following shot when it shows the dress that Dorothea points out it shows Aqua's bags going in reverse (1 green, 1 blue, 2 yellow). And then a few shots later when Randolph shakes Aqua's hand the bags are back in the first order (2 yellow, 1 blue, 1 green).
  • During 'Amigas Cheetahs', Chanel exclaims "Barcelona, help me bring out mi amiga Cheetah - Marisol!". As she says this however, her voice can be heard singing the line "Friends for life...".
  • At the final concert, a man and a woman are sitting in front of the Cheetah Girls' parents. When the camera comes in at another angle, two different women are in place of the couple. As the camera angle changes back to the original position, the man and woman are back.
