Talich Quartet

The Talich Quartet is a Czech string quartet widely regarded as a leading chamber ensemble and winner of several Grand Prix du Disque awards. It was founded in 1964 by Jan Talich Sr. while still a student at Prague Conservatory, and named after his famous uncle Václav Talich, the conductor and founder of the Czech Philharmonic. The original members were Jan Talich Sr., Jan Kvapil, Karel Doležal, and Evžen Rattay. Other past members included Petr Messiereur and Jiří Najnar. They have performed at the Prague Spring International Music Festival and Casals Festival. Specializing in works by Czech composers, they have premièred works by Viktor Kalabis, Luboš Fišer and Luboš Sluka.

The current members consist of:

  • Vladimir Bukač, viola
  • Petr Prause, cello
