Sudeep (Kannada: ಸುದೀಪ್) is an actor in Kannada cinema industry. He is from Shimoga, Karnataka.

Personal Background

He hails from a hotelier family. His father is Sanjeev, who is also a hotelier turned producer. He is a mechanical engineer by profession. He has named his daughter as "Saanvi" (name of goddess lakshmi).

Film Career

His first movie was Thayava and then he played a supportive role in the movie Prathyartha directed by Sunil Kumar Desai. He then acted in a movie called Sparsha which was also directed by Sunil Kumar Desai and it is the first movie of Sudeep where he is seen in a lead role. In 2003, Sudeep acted in a hit film Huccha which gave him a very big fan following. He is one of the popular actors in Kannada film industry.

He acted in a serial Premada Kadambari directed by Sudhakar Bhandari which was aired on Udaya TV, before he went on to act in his home production Sparsha directed by Sunil Kumar Desai

He acted in one of the critically acclaimed tragedy film "Huccha" which proved his acting capabilities. He also acted in Kannada version of the tamil movie Autograph and Telugu movie "Swathi Muthyam". He has got Filmfare Award twice consecutive years. Recently he made his debut in Bollywood with movie Phoonk.
