Stephen Flaherty
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceStephen Flaherty (born September 18, 1960) is an American composer of musical theatre in collaboration with Lynn Ahrens. They are best known for the shows Once on This Island, which was nominated for eight Tony Awards and Ragtime, which was nominated for twelve Tony Awards and won Best Original Score.
Biography
Flaherty was born on September 18, 1960, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended South Hills Catholic High School where he was very active in the school's acclaimed theater department throughout his student years. He matriculated to Cincinnati College Conservatory and graduated in 1982. When he was 12 he knew he wanted to write musicals. When he was 14, he had already composed his first musical score. He was mentored by Lehman Engel. He entered the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop right after he graduated college. He was also a member of DECA.Works
