Serbian citizenship law was passed by the Parliament of Serbia in 2004. It was based upon Israel’s Law of Return. The article 23, item 1 of the Law makes any foreigner of Serbian descent eligible for the Serbian citizenship. The Law also allows dual citizenship, meaning that a person can retain his or her old citizenship and still get the Serbian one, as long as his or her own country allows dual citizenship as well.
