Södertälje Sportklubb are a Swedish professional ice hockey club playing in Elitserien. They are often referred to simply as SSK. Södertälje were charter members of Elitserien when the league was founded in 1975 and have since played 21 seasons in the league (1975–1978, 1980–1981, 1983–1992, 1996–1998, 2001–2006, 2007–2008).

Coaches for the team are Leif Strömberg and Stefan Nyman.

Södertälje's fan club is known as the "Blue Lightnings".

History

Södertälje SK was founded in 1902 and have played hockey since 1925. The club has belonged to the topmost division of the Swedish league for more than 70 years. They have won the Swedish championship seven times (1925, 1931, 1941, 1944, 1953, 1956, and 1985).

On recent notes, SSK finished the 2004-05 season in 8th place, and reached the semifinals in the playoffs. In 2005-06 however, Södertälje finished 11th, had to play in the qualification league Kvalserien. Their third place finish was not enough and they were relegated to the second tier league Allsvenskan. They won the regular season and in and finished second in Kvalserien which promoted them to the Elitserien.
