Russell Brand is an English comedian, actor and singer who received worldwide fame in the mid 2000's. He is best known for his comedic sense, eccentricity and vulgarity. He began his career as a stand-up comic, working his way to becoming a presenter and actor.

Russell was born and raised in England by his single mother. His parents divorced when he was just a baby, and lived his life with his mother and her live-in husband. After his mother became very ill with cancer, he left home due to differences he had with his mother's live-in partner. This is when he began to struggle with alcohol and drug abuse.

In 2000, he found his way into the world of comedy, performing various gigs at comedy clubs throughout England. Many of his topics and jokes pertained to his own personal life, struggles and battles. His popularity grew over time, which earned him his first one-man show in 2004. He began doing tours in the U.K. and eventually began performing in the U.S.

He began making television appearances as a guest host and presenter on various shows. His first presenting gig was working as a video journalist on MTV. Other hosting gigs include Big Brother's Eforum, which later changed to Big Brother's Big Mouth, MTV Video Music Awards and Saturday Night Live.

He took on minor roles in various television shows and films, which eventually led him to his biggest break. He starred in the 2008 film Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and received great praise and reviews. He later did a film with Adam Sandler called Bedtime Stories. He reunited with the director of Forgetting Sarah Marshall during the making of Get Him to the Greek. His acting career began to skyrocket, appearing in many more films.
