Routes of infection are ways in which pathogens may enter the body. The following are the most common:

Respiratory: Most common route of infection
Skin: typically is the #1 means of defense, if cut may allow infections to enter.
Blood: perhaps through contaminated needles etc.
Gastrointestinal
Urinary
Sexual: See Sexually Transmitted Disease
