Richard Hoare
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceSir Richard Hoare (1648–6 January 1718), was a goldsmith, banker and politician. He opened his books as a goldsmith on Cheapside, London in 1672. He moved to Fleet Street in 1690, where he founded the bank that still bears his name, and is England's oldest privately owned bank: C. Hoare & Co. Hoare was elected as Lord Mayor of London in 1712. The bank, known as "Hoares Bank" is able to tailor its services to individual clients requirements.
