Samuel Caulkin aka
Ramshot is a
fictional character in the
Marvel comics universe.
Fictional character biography
Ramshot is a member of an armored group of vigilantes dubbed
The Jury. Caulkin was recruited into the Jury by
General Orwell Taylor to help him avenge the death of his youngest son Hugh. Samuel and Hugh were close friends from their time in the army. Soon after Hugh left the army he became a
Guardsman at the
Vault a prison for super powered criminals. Not long after Hugh was murdered by
Venom during his escape.
Ramshot was the most hesitant member of the team often questioning the team's actions. Ramshot was placed on reserve status by General Taylor for trying to save Spider-Man from being executed by his teammates. Ramshot frequently clashed with General Taylor and his son Maxwell Taylor (aka Screech). By the time new recruit Wysper joined, Ramshot had seemed to be past his earlier doubts about the way the Jury operated and was there to help push Wysper past her own doubts.
Ramshot and the Jury were later led by the U.S.Agent and financed by Edwin Cord. They were sent against the Thunderbolts but failed. Later the Jury would team up with the Thunderbolts against the new Secret Empire.
Powers and abilities
Ramshot has a suit of armor that allows him to fly. He also emits a sonic type blast he calls a battering pulse.
Trivia
Max Taylor (Screech) once claimed that Samuel Caulkin was a drug addicted cop when he was recruited by General Taylor. Some appearances seem to imply Ramshot was once a guardsman at the Vault along with Sentry. This does not seem to be in the spirit of their first appearances where the distinction was made that Hugh Taylor and Samuel Caulkin were friends from the army while
Curtis Elkins (Sentry) was a friend of Hugh Taylor's from the Vault and that they were brought together by Hugh's father Orwell.
- The 2006 version of the OHOTMU incorrectly lists Ramshot's last name as Caulkins (with an S).
