Prince Carlo of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Duke of Calabria (born February 24 1963 in Saint-Raphaël) is the son of Prince Ferdinand, Duke of Castro and Chantal de Chevron-Villette. He is one of two claimants to the title, Duke of Calabria, Prince Carlo's rival claimant is the Infante Carlos, Duke of Calabria. His full name is Charles Marie Bernard Gennaro.

Prince Carlo's father Ferdinand is currently the claimant to the headship of the House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies on that side of the family; a title which will one day be passed onto Carlo himself. Other titles his father holds, which will one day be passed on to Carlo includes; Grand Mastership of religions orders such as the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George and the Royal Order of Francis I.

Biography

He was born on 24 February 1963 in Saint-Raphaël, Var, France. Supporters of Prince Carlo claim that since the grandfather of Infante Carlos renounced the title in 1900, the title legitimately passed over his line onto Prince Ranieri, Duke of Castro, Prince Ferdinand, Duke of Castro, and finally Prince Carlo. The reverse argument is supported by the commissioned report of King Juan Carlos of Spain, in 1983, which concluded that Infante Carlos is, in fact, the actual Duke of Calabria and head of the House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.. However, a finding to the contrary would have undermined Juan Carlos own claim to the monarchy of Spain, so his commission represented a vested interest, and not an independent enquiry. The "official" (Spanish) site for the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George purports that, as Duke of Calabria, Infante Carlos is also the Grand Master of the order. But the UK delegation of the order claim that Prince Ferdinando, Duke of Castro is the Grand Master, and that Prince Carlo, his son, is "Grand Prefect." There are equally convincing arguments on both sides, but regardless of which side one believes, there seems to be no apparent diplomatic solution because each side is supported by separate interests.

He has been decorated with several dynastic and state honours.

Education

He was educated firstly at the Institute of the Marist Fathers at Toulon, France. He went on to study at a namesake of the Collège Stanislas de Paris located in Nice, France. After studying at an international university in Paris, he spent three years working for a public relations firm in Manhattan. He is fluent in Italian, French and English.
