Polish Second League
(II liga polska) is the third division of the Polish football
league. Please note that this league until the end of the 2007/20008 season was called Polish Third League
. However, Polish Football Association changed names and former First League is now Ekstraklasa
, former Second League is now First League and former Third League is now Second League.
In the 2008/2009 season there are two regional groups (West and East) of the Polish Second League. The both consist of 18 teams. Two first teams from each group win promotion to the First League. Teams from places 15-18 are demoted to the Third League (former Fourth League) and teams from places 11-14 have to play extra games to avoid demotion.
- In Group West of the Polish Second League there are teams from Upper Silesia, Opole, Lower Silesia, Lubuskie, Kuyavia-Pomerania, Pomerania, West Pomerania and Greater Poland.
- In Group East of the Polish Second League there are teams from Masovia, Łódź, Podlasie, Warmia-Masuria, Lesser Poland, Lublin, Świętokrzyskie and Subcarpathia.
