Pharmahuasca
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourcePharmahuasca is a pharmaceutical version of the traditional entheogenic brew ayahuasca. It can be either entirely synthetic or a combination of synthesized chemicals and plant extracts. Usually, these combinations are made from extracted psychoactives (such as DMT from Mimosa hostilis) and synthetic MAOIs. Pharmahuasca contains a psychoactive phenethylamine, such as mescaline , or a psychoactive alkaloid such as DMT or psilocybin, combined with an MAOI, which enhances the effect (indeed in traditional ayahuasca, the MAOIs harmine and harmaline initiate the hallucinogenic effects).
Traditional Ayahuasca is made by brewing the MAOI-containing Banisteriopsis caapi vine with a DMT containing plant, such as Psychotria viridis.
