Peiros

Peiros or Piros (Greek: Πείρος) is a river in the central and the northwestern parts of the Achaea prefecture. The river can also be known locally with numerous names including Kamenitsa (Καμενίτσα), Mellas or Melas (Μέλλας), Pieros (Πίερος), Nezeritiko (Νεζερίτικο), Prevedos (Πρέβεδος) and Acheloos (Αχελώος).

Geography
The Peiros is the longest river in Achaia. It begins in the east of the Erymanthos mountains, it passes through the municipalities of Kalavryta, Tritaia and into Chafkali and Toskos and into the other two municipalities of Oleni and Dymi and west of Alissos and east of Kato Achaia. It passes into the old and the new sections of the GR-9/E55 (Patras - Pyrgos - Kyparissia) with the OSE's SPAP line in tens of metres to the north. It empties into the Gulf of Patras near the forested coastline. A new dam is being proposed in the municipality of Tritaia near Chafkali and Toskos that will be known as Peiros Perapeiros Dam which will power electricity to Patras and the Patras Industrial Area.
The river are situated near two ancient cities, Olenos in the municipality of Dymi and Farrai by its banks.
