Oscar Isaac (born Oscar Isaac Hernandez on January 5, 1980) is a Guatemalan actor.

Biography

Early life

Isaac was born in Guatemala to a Cuban father and a Guatemalan mother but was raised in Miami, Florida. He is also of French, Israeli, and other European descent. While in Miami, he played lead guitar and sang vocals for his band "The Blinking Underdogs". He graduated from Juilliard School in 2005.

Career

Isaac's first major film role is as Joseph opposite Keisha Castle-Hughes in the film The Nativity Story. He also had a small role in All About the Benjamins and the Che Guevara biopic Guerrilla. In addition to movie appearances, he made an appearance in the television series Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Additionally, he appeared as Romeo in the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park performance of Romeo and Juliet and in 2 Gentlemen from Verona at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.

Personal life

He has described his evangelical upbringing as "very Christian".
