In the village the population was spread out with 18.6% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 21.2% who were 65 years of age or older. Nora Elementary School (mascot Navahos) was a fixture of the town for years. In the early 1980's consolidation led to the school's closure and it was converted to apartments. Until the 1960's the town had a grocery store run by Belle Lutter, who claimed to have ridden Ulysses S. Grant's horse as a girl.
