The
Natchitoches or Natchitoch were one of the indigenous tribes in
Louisiana of the
Caddo Native Americans. In the early 17th century they were joined by some of the remnants of the
Cadodaquiou, a tribe that had been largely killed and enslaved by the
Chickasaw. They settled on the
Cane River around present-day
Natchitoches Louisiana.
