Nanda (mythology) - 1 reference result
According to Puranas, Nanda (Sanskrit: नंद) was head of a tribe of cowherds referred as Holy Gwals. On the night of Krishna's appearance or birth, Vasudeva (Krishna's father) brought Krishna to Nanda for Krishna's childhood years. Nanda was married to Yasoda. Krishna derives his name Nandalal (meaning son of Nanda) from him.
