The Mother of Fraternities is a term commonly used to refer to two different universities, each of which played a critical role in establishing the Greek system in the United States of America.
- Union College is the first of the two, seeing the foundation of the Union Triad from 1825 to 1827 as well as Psi Upsilon (1833), Chi Psi (1841), and Theta Delta Chi (1847).
- Miami University is the latter of the two, seeing the foundation of the Miami Triad from 1839 to 1855 as well as Phi Kappa Tau (1906).
