Marcus Furius Bibaculus was a neoteric poet with little money who had an affair with the boyfriend of Catullus, Juventius. He was also a friend of Aurelius. He is addressed in some poems of Catullus, including poems 11, 16, 23, 24, and 26. Bibaculus is mentioned along with Catullus by Tacitus (Annals lib. IV, 34) as having written invectives against Julius Caesar. Marcus Furius Bibaculus often wrote of his every day experiences in the Forum.
