Quintus Marcius Turbo Fronto Publicius Severus, commonly referred to as Marcius Turbo, was a Roman general during the 2nd century who served under two of the Five Good Emperors: Trajan and Hadrian. He was a good friend of Emperor Hadrian for many years, providing advice regarding military matters. During Hadrian's reign, he quelled the Jewish revolts in the east of the Empire. He sailed to Alexandria, defeated the Jews in several pitched battles and killed thousands of enemies, not only those in Egypt but also those of Cyrene. With losses of some 200,000 Romans, Jews and other civilians, this conflict would later become known as the Kitos War (115-117). Quintus Marcius Turbo then successfully led Legio II Adiutrix against the Sarmatians in 118. Marcius also served as supreme commander in Parthia during the wars in that nation from 114-117.
