Urbas's season best over 60 metres indoor is 6.80s and his 200 metres season best is 20.84s. He is coached, by Mr. Osik, the coach of the Polish national team of dashers (100m and 200m specialists).

Urbaś is the Polish national record holder over half-a-lap (19.98 seconds clocked in the semifinal of the World Championships in 1999, in Seville, Spain Wind Factor: +1.7). Urbas is one of the four Polish athletes who brought the Polish national records in dashes up-to-the global standards: Marian Woronin 10.00 (9.992) over 100 m; Marcin Urbas 19.98 over 200m; and Tomasz Czubak and Robert Mackowiak(not a national record holder) over 400 m, 44.62 – the Polish national record, and 44.84, respectively. He is an accomplished indoor athlete: he won the gold medal over a lap indoor in the European Indoor Championships in 2002, and the bronze medal in 2005.
