A mantinada, (plural mantinades, Greek μαντινάδα, μαντινάδες) — a Cretan folk song. The verse epic Erotokritos from Crete has many characteristics of the mantinada. They are small poems of 2 lines, making rhyme. Cretans use to discuss with mantinades in fests or special events, trying to tease or praise each other. Most of the times, they are made instantly and they move from mouth to mouth. The best of them usually became songs
