Makrynoros

The Makrynoros or the Makrinoros mountains (Greek: Μακρυνόρος, Modern: Akarnaniko, Katharevoussa: Akarnanikon) is a mountain range dominating the northern part of the Aitolia-Akarnania prefecture in western Greece. Its length is approximately 25 to 30 km long from north to south and its width is approximately 10 km wide from east to west. The Ionian Sea lies to the west. The mountain is surrounded by the GR-5/E55 (Antirrio - Messolongi - Agrinio - Ioannina) and the future Ionia Odos to the west.

Forests are founded in the outer part of the mountain, bushes are sporadically founded, grasslands and rocks along with ledges covers the rest of the mountain range. Strabo described the area of the mountain range near Sellades as Selaida (Σελαΐδα)

Its panorama includes the Ambracian Gulf which includes the northwesternmost Aitoloakarnania and the southern Epirus, the mountains of southeastern Epirus, the mountains near Evrytania and the mountains of northcentral part of the prefecture in which the valley can rarely be seen.
