MV Empire MacAlpine was a Grain ship converted to Merchant Aircraft Carrier (MAC ship).
Entered service as MAC ship April 1943, owned by the Ministry of War Transport and operated by William Thomson & Co.
Displacement 7,950 tons. Converted by Burntisland Shipbuilding Company.
The first MAC ship.
After the war, the ship was converted to a grain carrier, and scrapped at Hong Kong in 1970.
